DRC CRISIS INITIATIVES

Owners and leaders of the DRC personally financed a $28,000 emergency relief fund to offer interest-free loans up to $250 for employees. The fund supports staff so that they can purchase food, medicine and other essentials, no questions asked. This initiative began prior to the annoucement of CERB and remains in place after to support staff in need.

To keep spirits up, restaurant managers and chefs are regularly keeping in touch with staff during these particularly lonely and uncertain times.

We have created internal and external digital programming to keep our communities connected.

Although the hospitality industry has been hit particularly hard by COVID-19, many of the city’s most vulnerable have been hit even harder. Among this population, are the food-insecure youth, who face a challenging reality made more difficult during this global crisis.

That’s why we’ve partnered with Mealshare in order to provide simple, healthy meals to youth in need.

Until our restaurants are back-up and running, our gift cards are giving back.

For every $100 DRC gift card sold, the Distillery Restaurants will donate 20 meals to youth in need through Mealshare.

The DRC has donated their inventory of approximately 35,000 protective gloves to Second Harvest to support their team on the front-lines.

Before closing our restaurant doors, 70 balanced boxes of perishable food were packed and personally delivered to dedicated staff across the GTA.
